Regarding NCSU/NCSU2 management network via OpenFlow?:

We have 3 approaches ordered in the order of increasing complexity/brittleness:

1. Hybrid mode - use OF for ORCA and Ethernet for management VLANs/ports

2. Multi-virtual-instance OpenFlow? where one instance runs with FlowVisor? on top to support ORCA and OF experiments and the other has a directly attached controller (or two - primary and secondary on two head nodes) to support management traffic on management ports.

3. Single virtual instance OpenFlow? with FlowVisor?.

We also decided to see if we can get #2 going, given the dearth of documentation on #1. We decided to try using Floodlight in its multi-vlan-learning switch mode.

Waiting for more information from Cisco on latest sw/hw that can do proper OpenFlow? 1.0 that will support floodlight learning switch

NCSU2 rack's RDF should allow for 'regular' vlans in addition to OpenFlow?. The two networks (vlan and openflow) can be on the same ports.

Yufeng, can we please change the RDF to allow non-openflow requests as well as openflow requests and let them fall on the same ports? I believe this should not create any conflicts, but feel free to correct me.

updated the ncsu2 site RDF to support both mode, using the same ports: 38-41, to the worker nodes.

Jonathan, could you update NCSU2 RDF and clean-restart ? It should be ready for testing for both VLANs and OpenFlow?.

NCSU/NCSU2 are being moved to new physical location. Passed the GPO tests for OF and stitching. Closing.
